T&T Group cooperates with the Vietnam Golf Association to inaugurate the T&T Golf Academy

On December 26, 2023, T&T Group signed a comprehensive strategic partnership with the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) and officially launched T&T Golf Academy – the first golf academy under the sponsorship of VGA.

Vietnam is considered to have the potential and opportunity to become the “Golf Paradise of Asia” due to its diverse terrain, long coastline with renowned beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, breathtaking landscapes, and abundant sunshine almost year-round—favorable conditions for the development of golf tourism. On the international golf map, Vietnam has consistently been recognized by the World Golf Awards as the Best Golf Destination in both the world and Asia.

Becoming a strategic partner with the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) is an important stepping stone for T&T Group to achieve its goal of “Bringing international golf standards to Vietnam.”

However, the Vietnamese golf market still faces many challenges. Golf tourism products remain limited, the number of golf courses is still small, and there are no professional golf awards or major regional and international tournaments. The percentage of international tourists coming to Vietnam specifically for golf remains low compared to the total number of foreign visitors.

T&T Group is not only one of Vietnam’s leading multi-sector private economic groups but is also known as a pioneer in sports socialization and development. In addition to owning the well-established Hanoi Football Club, T&T Group has invested in table tennis and sponsored and supported the promotion of sports movements in various localities such as Thai Nguyen, Can Tho, Bac Giang, Nghe An, and Da Nang.

Recognizing both the potential and the challenges of the golf market, T&T Group decided to enter into a comprehensive strategic partnership with the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) and officially launched the T&T Golf Academy—the first golf academy under VGA’s sponsorship.

“The signing of this comprehensive strategic partnership between the Vietnam Golf Association and T&T Group marks the first step in laying the foundation for establishing a national-standard golf academy—T&T Golf Academy—at Van Lang Empire Golf Course. It also aims to collaborate on building and implementing a junior golf training program in Vietnam and organizing a system of professional, amateur, and youth golf tournaments, contributing to the growth of golf in Vietnam,” shared Mr. Do Vinh Quang, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Deputy General Director of T&T Group.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Vu Nguyen, Vice President and General Secretary of VGA, stated that the partnership between T&T Group and VGA would serve as the foundation for hosting many tournaments in the near future, providing golfers and athletes with the opportunity to compete at Van Lang Empire Golf Club.

“We hope and firmly believe that this collaboration will create a new playing field for golfers, elevate Vietnamese golf on the world map, and make it an attractive destination for international visitors,” emphasized Mr. Vu Nguyen.

Delegates and guests hit the ceremonial tee shots to mark the inauguration of T&T Golf Academy.

T&T Golf Academy is a key component of the Van Lang Empire Golf Club complex, designed by Greg Norman and receiving special technical support from the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA). The academy is built on a 3-hectare site at the heart of the golf course complex. It features 32 fixed practice lines on mats, 20 practice lines on natural grass, designated areas for chipping, putting, and bunker practice, as well as two internationally standardized 3D simulation rooms.

The Van Lang Empire Golf Club spans approximately 168 hectares within the Tam Nông Legendary Urban Area (Tam Nông, Phu Tho). It has established its brand based on five world-class values: World-Class Standards – Premium & Unique Experiences – Challenging – Green & Natural – Traditional Heritage.

Under the comprehensive strategic partnership, VGA will provide academic support, coaching standards, and other necessary elements to ensure the academy adheres to national regulations and standards. T&T Golf Academy will serve as the home for Vietnam’s national golf team, offering players access to top-tier training and competition facilities.

T&T Group and VGA have also agreed to collaborate on researching and developing the Vietnam Junior Golf Training Program, aiming to strengthen Vietnam’s golf team both in quality and quantity. The goal is to achieve high-ranking regional accomplishments, including winning medals at the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) and the Asian Games (Asiad). This initiative will gradually elevate Vietnam’s golf ranking in the region and internationally while fostering the development of the golf industry, boosting tourism, and contributing to the national economy. Additionally, the program will ensure a steady supply of skilled and highly trained golf professionals for Vietnam’s golf ecosystem. The Vietnam Junior Golf Training Program will initially focus on the Phu Tho provincial golf team as a pilot model before expanding in subsequent phases.

Both parties will also collaborate on organizing national-standard professional, amateur, and junior golf tournaments at Van Lang Empire Golf Club, with a focus on three key events:

  • Classic Tournament (Vietnam’s professional golf championship)
  • King Cup (A competition between professional teams from the North and South of Vietnam)
  • Junior Tournament (A grassroots golf development event for young players)

Mr. Nguyen Dac Thuy, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Phu Tho Province, expressed his optimism that the partnership between T&T Group and VGA will contribute to the development of golf tourism in the province. He emphasized that this collaboration aligns with Phu Tho’s long-term goal of promoting a diverse and high-achieving sports and cultural sector.

Perspective view of T&T Golf Academy

As of now, the Van Lang Empire Golf Club project is the largest golf development in Phu Tho province and is expected to become a premier 36-hole international-standard golf course in northern Vietnam. It is the only golf course in Vietnam designed based on the cultural, historical, and natural narratives of Van Lang and the Hung Kings dynasty. This masterpiece, with its unique and distinctive elements, promises to be a top-tier destination highly sought after by golfers.
